Short story:
Orion was born and raised in a classy stable that was part of a large estate that was evidently owned by very wealthy people. The owners of the estate had two separate barns, for two separate breeds of horses which they bred and trained. In one barn, they had Irish Sport Horses and in the other, Oldenburg's. Orion's mother was a very valuable mare and was their prized broodmare out of their Oldenburg's. His father however, wasn't really anything special, at least not to the owners. They didn't consider Orion's father to be interesting or worth their while, yet they didn't sell him or send him away. The only reason they bred him to Orion's mother was because the two horses couldn't seem to be able to be without each other for a very long time. When Orion was born he was definitely something to look at. With his rich, dark coat and his long sleek legs, and even the way he carried himself around with such pride, they decided to keep him around and see if he could be made into a top show horse. Orion grew like a weed, as did his curiosity, and each day seemed to bring new encounters to him, whether it be with on of the bulls in the neighbouring pasture, the dogs that belonged to the owners, or even the barn cats who seemed to have very shifty moods. The young colt seemed to have a positive outlook on everything, that is, until the owners decided it was time to send his father away. Orion had always been closest with his father, peculiar, yes, because most foals are more attached to their mother, but in Orion's case it was his father. The young Oldenburg became a menace on the day they were loading his father into the large horse trailer, he would dart in the way of the men who were leading the larger stallion away in hopes to slow them down, emit loud, shrill whinnies to show his discontent with the situation and at one point he even went inside the horse trailer and refused to come out. When the estate owners became aware of what was happening, their anger was quite evident, so they demanded that both Orion and his father were sent away together.

More satisfied with the fact that he wouldn't have to part with his father, Orion had calmed down enough to endure the ride to their new home. It wasn't quite bad, in his eyes, his new home was a lot more welcoming then their previous home had been. There was only one barn and a few paddocks, but the property looked quite large but not too large that it made him feel abnormally small. When the two horses were unloaded and brought to the barn, Orion was ecstatic to discover that there was another mare and a young foal in the barn, and a filly at that. The younger couple who had bought Orion and his father were Oldenburg breeders as well, but not a fast-paced or high-strung type of breeders. They liked the let the relationship between mare and stallion play out before they bred two horses. For the rest of his colthood, Orion spent it frolicking in the paddocks with the young filly, spending time with his father and even bonding with the mare whom would later be bred to his father.
