The Marionette isn't the Crying Child. In Happiest day, you play as the Marionette. When you give the four kids and the Crying Child a cake, the Crying Child gets a mask that looks like Freddy's. As it is lighter toned, one can assume it is Golden Freddy. Their masks then fall to the ground. The mask of the player looks exactly like the Marionette's.
Therefore, Crying Child = Golden Freddy. The marionette does not confront Purple Guy.

And I have a counter-theory to go against that:
There are 4 crying kids in various FNAF3 minigames (I think) as well as the crying kid who becomes Golden Freddy. The Crying Child, from the FNAF2 cake minigame, is who you play as when the Purple Guy dies. The crying kids from FNAF3 represent the FNAF1 animatronics. The Crying Child from FNAF2 is the Puppet.
