Help me?

Postby van Wolf » Wed Dec 31, 2014 5:21 am

I'm trying to improve my style. I want to draw more realistic canines as mine usually end up being quite cartoony. I usually use FireAlpaca so I'm not used to the oekaki and this was the best I could do. I would appreciate a nice redline.

I'm also trying to add shading to my drawings so any tips on that are welcome. <3

for better shading pick a place where you want the light to come from.
shade all parts that could POSSIBLY be in shadow.
make it dramatically noticeable.
hope that helped /\ will redline aswell

My penmanship really went downhill in this.
- Less "box" shape. "Box" shapes are more for equines. You want to use circles, beans, and other curvy shapes for canines.
- Shorter muzzle.
- Shorter body.
- Start with a skeleton. There is an example of what I mean by a skeleton on the image.
- Make your drawing look more NATURAL.
- It is okay to use references, that is why they are there.

For shading it helps to draw a light source, all the part the light doesn't hit should be shaded. Some parts will be darker than others (the part very little light gets to.)
I don't usually draw feral, sorry. ^^;

Thank you. I usually do draw the 'skeleton' (I think I deleted it because I accidently merged it with some of the lines) but I'll remember to make the body shorter and more naturally shaped. I've been practicing it with traditional art. Thank you again, much appreciated. c:
