The ring on Reese's finger was supposed to be for a girl whom he treasured very much. He liked her so much he decided he wanted to marry her, so he bought the ring at the jewelry store and was going to give it to her as a gift. Unfortunately, she had been the victim of a recent kidnapping spree, and was thought dead. Reese mourned for days after that, and kept the ring on as a memory of her ever smiling face.
