yep Jimmy was gifted from an energy source called the "key"
the key's power was unknown up until now, it enables it's bearer to know everything about the universe shared publicly
meaning any thoughts, theories, ideas, etc. that have been kept private he has no access to.
This power isn't a spontaneous thing, and he'll only know things in pieces, since the information needs time to adjust.
Another thing is his brain isn't constantly pressured by his new intellect, and thoughts will adjust depending on the environment and what sort of data is convenient at the time.
since the key needed as much room as possible for all this information, Jimmy lost his old memories. His story starts when he wakes up on the edge of a forest holding a knapsack marked with the name Jimmy. He doesn't even know he holds all the information in the universe, until he starts jabbering various topics. But even then, he just assumes he's just a smart kid.
Under stress, Jimmy talks on and on about random facts.
