In a land where foxes ruled the forest, dragons ruled the mountains, Oxen ruled the fields, and phoenixes ruled the sky; there were four ancients, one of each species. Each ancient had different features, Dragon had six spines on his head, Phoenix was blue instead of the normal orange, Oxen had very unusual bent horns, and Fox had nine tails instead of the usual two or three. These Ancients ruled the world created by the Griffon, however Griffon could sense of a darkness coming and summoned the Ancients before her. Fox, Ox, Dragon and Phoenix all accepted the task of defeating the darkness. When the time came the Ancients battled for a straight seven years and finally, in the middle of the eighth year, they had done it. The darkness was no more and all seemed well, until the Ancients began to wither away. Griffon could not save them in time, but promised that they would be reincarnated when the world needed them again and so, our story begins over a thousand years later...
