What is The Demented Forest?

My friend Mina and I are camping near a supposedly haunted woods.
I can't believe it's haunted, but Mina is a tad more superstitious than I. So, we set out for the woods.

We're in the woods, but something seems wrong. There's more deep woodland than the map says so, and I think I can see small, orange lights.

Mina is getting scared, she swore she "saw a deer with big eyes and teeth". I'm starting to worry a bit, as well. Remember those orange lights? No matter how close I feel we get to them, they're always a few more steps away.

I saw another deer like Mina's description.

The foxes. They're always watching us. More eyes than I thought possible. Are we just going insane?

We escaped the rabbits. I can see daylight?

We finally escaped. But the strangest thing is, it only looks like 12:00 PM yesterday.
We've named this place The Demented Forest, and have decided to bring an expedition team to investigate.

There were a few species in the Demented Forest. They were like.. Demented versions of real animals.
-The foxes, they had far too many eyes. And I don't mean a third eye on the forehead, I mean eyes EVERYWHERE. And at least one is always open at a time.
-The deer. They had large eyes, sharp horns, and fangs. I'd bet you money they're venomous.
-Rabbits. Something isn't right about them.
-Owls, there were so many of them. A lot of them were dead, but I could have sworn I saw life in those eyes.

In detail:

The deer are carnivorous, and have venomous fangs to hunt their prey, which consists mostly of Demented Rabbits and carrion. Their eyes are larger to accustom to the darkness of their home, and the pupil is small and floaty. Their horns do not molt regularly, though do grow back when lost. They are the second most abundant animal in the Demented Forest.

The foxes have many eyes on their body, and at least one is open at a time. When a Fox has all eyes open, it is considered good luck. They are the rarest creature to be fully seen, but there always seems to be a Fox eye looking out of every other bit of underbrush.

The Rabbits of The Demented Forest live in groups of 3-5 families. Their children hatch from eggs, than eat he father. Nobody really knows why they have large, slightly luminescent spines.

The Owls of the Demented Forest never die. They only turn into dark energy, creating a larger Demented Forest, though even before they become fully Dark Energy for their forest, dark stuff radiates from their wings. They are the most abundant creature of the Demented Forest.
