Story:
The soft colors of the fading dusk sky gently turned darker as the night gradually drew closer. Among the top of the many red mountains of the beautiful lands of Isket laid Raeya, who was watching the warriors stroll back to their dens after a long day of hard work. Sighing contently at the peaceful view, she laid her head on her paws, her long tail flicking as she observed them.
As the glowing, golden sunlight turned to silver with the moon rising into the now darkened night, the warrior’s ears flicked at the sounds of a soft breeze blowing the long blue grass and the gentle rustle of the trees. Only a few were out now; wolves who were assigned to keep watch of any enemies or potential threats were the only ones wandering around, always alert.
I should rest, she thought, though restlessness continued to settle upon her until she finally stood up on all fours. Deciding to go on a short walk to clear her thoughts, she leaped gracefully down the rust colored rocks and landed with a quiet thud on the lush grass, which brushed against her white and black fur as she trotted ahead.
Seeing a figure ahead, the female slowed down to see another warrior; a dark colored wolf with orange and blue markings glanced around, his ears twitching as he noticed someone was coming up to him.
"Ah! Who..." The younger male jolted a little in surprise, and then turned to face Raeya. Recognizing who he was talking to, he stammered, "Raeya- I mean- Miss, I didn't-"
"I'm sorry to startle you," she said in a soft tone, tilting her head at him. "You don't have to call me anything other than my name. I suppose you're a bit new here?"
"A bit. Actually, I've been here for a while. Sorry, I’ve never really talked to anybody much, especially not of such importance,” he admitted, shifting from paw to paw.
“Don’t be nervous. I talk to others like this all the time; I just wanted to take a short walk around here. Isn’t Isket such a lovely place?” she questioned him with an air of curiosity, listening to what the other had to say. The male seemed to be assured by her words, and resumed in a calmer state.
“Of course, the scenery’s beautiful. More beautiful than where I was in before Rayo found me,” he replied back, his voice seemingly distant. Raeya’s bright azure eyes blinked at this answer.
“I remember Grandfather mentioning to me about new wolves joining into the pack. Perhaps you were one of them,” she replied back, which brought the warrior back to reality.
“I was a loner before I first joined the pack, chased in by a Kronador,” he said, then laughed lightly, “It was the scariest moment of my life, as well as the best. After all, that’s how I found this pack.”
“You were lucky you were found. I’ve had a few experiences with Kronadors as well, but not as fortunate. The first time I encountered them was… rather difficult,” she managed to say, recalling distant flashes of her memory. “However, training got me to where I am today.” With a gentle smile, she stretched a little before getting back up and turning to the mountains.
“I should be going. I have a patrol tomorrow. What’s your name?”
“Caelum,” he replied, watching her as she nodded.
“Goodnight, Caelum. There’s still a lot about Isket you have yet to experience.”
