You get the tall canvas by flipping it. You can flip it by clicking on the Rotate button on the Tools Box, then dragging in the direction you want it on the canvas. The button is the 4th one (the 2nd one down on the right side), and looks like a rotating canvas that is blue. If you can't find it, you might be still on version 1 of Chibipaint, which you can change to two here. If this confusing, apologies!
