The gold was the divine metal to Egyptians, represent the sun and the sun god, Ra.The markings on his forelegs and tail represent jewelry of the Egyptian people and the ones around his eyes are similar to the make up/ symbols that were common place. The wings come from the legend of Isis, that she used her wings to breathe new life into the god Osiris after he was murdered by his brother. His spots are based after Malachite, which is said to bring good health and protection. His nose, eyes, and paw pads are based on a garnet, a stone that brings success to ones life. It is also a stone of love and compassion. Of course the ankh is a symbol for eternal life. His feathers are from a hooded Crow to remind him that there is light in death.
