Trying to develop one of my species more. These things are called Pallio dogs. I plan on making them adoptables soon, since I already have a lot of stuff on them done than my other species.
Anatomy:
Their anatomy in general is similar to a generic canine. A Pallio's nose is very big, however, sometimes reaching comical sizes in unfortunate individuals. They have a tail that's similar to a lizard, with a thick base that tapers towards the end. Their ears are like an African wild dog's. The ears are always round, though some do get somewhat pointy (look at the blue Pallio in the drawing). The main thing of this species is that they have these very small holes at the base of their neck, kinda like gills. The holes expel some kind of physical manifestation of a Pallio's life.
Pallios some in all shapes in sizes. Some are short, some are long. Maybe one has an oddly long tail, maybe another has nearly circular ears. The cape is something that can look unique between individuals too. When I design these dogs, I try to always think of ways to make each unique in terms of bodies rather than markings. I attempted to do that in the drawing above.
About the cape:
The cape is something that grows with a Pallio. When they're born, the cape is just a few specks around the neck. As they grow, the cape starts to grow too. You can usually tell how old a Pallio is by looking at how long their cape is. The longer, the older. The Pallio in the top-left corner of this drawing is considered a young adult, by the way. The average lifespan of a Pallio is about 100 years or so. A Pallio at 100 will have a cape longer than it's body. When the Pallio is about to die, the cape will start to shrink. In the days leading up to death, the cape slowly gets shorter and shorter, until it is gone, and the Pallio is dead. The cape is known to shrink due to old age, death due to injury, and death to to disease. Should the Pallio somehow survive a life-threatening stabbing, then the cape will recover with the Pallio, becoming full length again once the Pallio is healthy.
Markings:
Pallios can be any color and possess any markings. The only constant thing between Pallios is a spot on the back of their ears.
