Short story about Lelani:
I woke up in a small box on the streets, with only a blanket covering me. "Mom?" I asked. There was no reply, not even a sound. I crawled out of the box to suddenly feel rain pouring over me. My body was so tiny that the rain stated to push me towards the drain. "Help! Help!" I cried. No one tried to save me from the dreadful drain. Suddenly I heard a kind voice. "Let's get you out of there." the human said, opening the drain. He reached out and scooped me up. "Thank you kind sir!" I squeaked, not knowing he couldn't understand me. "I'd keep you if I could," he explained "but I have a large family, there's too many mouths to feed." The man got out a cellphone. "I'll call the Fennic Flare Nursery about this right away." he said, dialling a number. An hour later, a human who said they were called Kiru picked me up. She wrapped me in a warm towel and placed me in her car with her. "You'll get a home soon, little baby girl." Kiru told me. I hope she's right.
