The Stars were glistning in the Black summer nightsky, There was an unfamiliar smell around the Twilight lit forest. The forest was silent, there were no sounds, not even the slight whisper of the wind. the only movements were the thundering steps of our Pack racing through the undergrowth. Destiny in the lead, our Alpha female, Echoe just behind, My Father and also our deputy in the makings. Then there's FireFly, JetBlaze, me, my brother-Spirit, Fate, Rythm and Streamer. We were running from the uknown, the uknown heat and the choking smoke that Crakled and swiftly glided through the trees. It was hot on our heals, definatley hot on our heels. "Destiny! Were not going to make it, we're falling back we need to start heading towards the River! its too late to warn the rest of the pack about the fire! By the time the fire comes within reach of the camp they will already have left because of the smoke thats drifting infront of the fire! Quick, Destiny! for their sake!" screamed Echoe. "Allright, give the orders to change corse! im going to the back to encourage the younger ones!" and with that Destiny leaped past Echoe and raced to the back, just when a burning tree came crashing down on top of Rythm, Streamer was blocked from us and Rythm was trapped! "Rythm! NO!" screeched Spirit. Spirit and Rythm had been in love for many moons and now Spirits heart was in danger.Spirit sprinted to where Rythm had once raced as fast as she could from the aproching flames,The load crackling drew closer as The pack stopped dead and raced with time to reach Rythm and Streamer. "Spirit!" Echoe rawred, "dont its too late, shes gone! Streamer try to run or jump over the tree! if you cant try and..." but the fire had the upper hand and time was running out. The fire was now visible and All you could hear was the terrifying crakling that endless crackling. the next thing i saw was Spirits furious claws skraping at the burning wood, he finally got the tree to move a tiny bit. "Rythm!" he screamed again, "Rythm! I see you! wake up! please! come on Rythm i cant loose you! NO NOT THIS TIME!" he grabbed her by the skruff of the neck and hauled her from under the tree. Spirit started to run back. He dropped Rythm and shouted "Im going back for Streamer, she's caught her hind leg on the tree!" "Oh im coming with you this time Spirit!" I yowled. We flew through the smoke and jumped over the burning tree, Streamer was fighting with all her might to break free from the tree. "It wont MOVE! HELP ME!" screeched Streamer. Her once beautifully patterned coat was now burnt and bleeding from some deep cuts. Streamers left back leg was free but badly injured. "Come on IceBlaze!Help us!" shouted Spirit, i could see the urgency in both their eyes. I leaped down and started skrabbling at the old burnt bark.
It finally gave way and Spirit grabbed Streamer by the skruff again and yanked her out of the way just in time. The fire was here, the end had finally come to us.
That was all i remember about that night and the flames and the stars and my mother, oh i didnt tell you about my mother... well she died when i was just a tiny pup, she was out hunting....she never came back. My father, Echoe said that she had died of a broken heart. but somehow, just before i closed my eyes and waited for the crakling terror to overcome me. She glided through out from the flames and picked me up by the kneck and all i saw after that was her golden chest, with the symbol of a full heart placed exacly where her heart was still beating.
