What is a Sacred Pearl Guardian? wrote:
Sacred Pearl Guardians are an ancient race of dragons, for their species ages back almost to the very beginning of the universe--that's right, even before the Earth was molded into being.
Their home planet is Taura, an enormous black superplanet the size of the modern Jupiter. Yet despite its size and intense gravity, Taura and the blue star it orbits--Uethesa--are kept eternally safe by the magic power generated by the Sacred Pearl Guardians and the Tree of Life that they protect. Despite having rocky black landscapes of dark obsidian stone, it is home to uncounted examples of exotic alien life, many with glowing and magical attributes.
Sacred Pearl Guardians were gifted with godly powers, the ability to transcend countless lightyears of distance within seconds using their pearls as well as to bend the universe and magic to their will in beautiful ways.
Lifestyle and Culture wrote:
Sacred Pearl Guardians are considered to have reached full adulthood at 25 Earth years, but can live for infinite times less disease or injury take them.
Mating Season is year-round due to Taura's generally perfect seasons, but is mostly during the springtime around Saia Harodokuru, which is basically like a week-long Valentines Day/Christmas and is a holiday for celebration and rejoice. It is the only known Sacred Pearl Guardian holiday, in which great festivities are held and presents shared.
Egg clusters of 1-3 are born in caves dug out by the Sacred Pearl Guardians over generations. In some densely-populated areas, large numbers of the dragons share a single massive labyrinths. In other places, secluded families live in caves all on their own. These caves are decorated with Glowing Glass for lighting, the colors of which can be changed through magics, and various exotic gemstones that are richly found under the surface of Taura.
They pass Hatchlinghood and reach adolescence at the age of 10. At 20 years, they are then considered to be a young adult and are put through the Trial of the Pearl. On their 20th Hatchingday celebration, the new guardians-in-training are brought before the Tree of Life and placed in the eternally flaming circle before it. They are then given a single fruit from the Tree of Life, the color of which changes according to its new owner, and this Firefruit becomes the magical life-giving pearl for which their race are named for, and from which they draw their power. Now having acquired their Pearl, which is basically the coming-of-age event for a young Sacred Pearl Guardian, they spend the last 5 years of their adolescence learning their elemental powers.
Sacred Pearl Guardians are known to be well devoted protectors of the innocent. Mostly, they will eat from the juice-filled fruits that grow in abundance in their world, but will still occasionally hunt for meat. (Taura, despite having a black stone and absence of oceans, is much like Earth. Basically take an animal, add glowing pearls, magic, and glowing markings, and there you go.) Despite their duties to defend, and the fact that their souls must be read and approved by the Tree of Life before passing the Trials of the Pearl, some can still grow to live cruel and destructive lives just as any other sentient creature can.
Taura does not really have a 'government' in a sense, due to the fact that they all abide by the laws and precedents set for them by the omniscient Tree of Life. The high-ranking protectors of the Tree of Life's Altar and the land around it are known as the Council of Fire, and are the closest thing that Taura has to nobility.
Besides the fact that females are generally sleeker, there is not much differentiation between genders in the species. The sharp spikes on their tailtips, called their Spades, usually look a like, but occasionally a SPD can have a uniquely shaped spade. This is usually heritable and is useful in identifying relatives.
Estates
When a dragon acquires his or her elemental power, they are put in an "Estate".
An Estate is basically a kingdom classification including many smaller classes of element. There are 5 official estates: Forest, Fire, Water, Wind, and Psychic.
Forest
Forest is the largest Estate considering it includes elements ranging from Crystal, to normal Rock elements, to Acid to Poison. These are basic Earth-y and nature-y elements most people could expect.
Fire
The Estate of Fire includes elemental classes such as fire, magma, or heat-related elements.
Water
Water is the smallest Estate and only includes the elements of Water, Ice, Blizzard, or Storm. Blizzard and Storm elementals are basically the same as Ice an Water elementals, except they have more atmospheric attributes and are water-wind hybrids.
Wind
The Wind estate includes elements such as wind, or more powerful elements such as tornado. Many are feathered and some have the ability to communicate to birds.
Psychic
The Psychic Estate is the most powerful and rarest Estate, despite the fact that it's so large. It basically includes elements that wouldn't go under any other Estate. It also includes powers such as mind-reading and telepathy.

Staff wrote:What kind of staff are needed right now? wrote:Currently, we need artists, moderators, and an archivist. Soon I plan to open an artist's competition. Until then, I am REALLY picky about the staff, so DO NOT comment saying something along the lines of 'hi can i be an artist' and expect to be hired, unless you are REALLY DARN SURE that what I see in your gallery will suffice. Though I will be hiring, but do not be offended if I tell you no and will only hire you if the reason you want to be hired and think you should be are put quite clear. There are no current form/guidelines for it.Guest Artists
-I do not know how guest artists will work at the moment.Minimods
I'm going to use the same thing I do for my other adoptable.
All mods begin as Minimods, who act like mods but must alert me of all issues that come up. After a while of being a good minimod, you're promoted to an actual mod.Moderators
Moderators surpassed being good, reliable Minimods long enough to have enough trust to have absolute POWAH. They can handle copying issues and whatnot however they like, and do not necessarily have to alert me of everything that comes up, though I would appreciate it. Though they can now dish out strikes themselves, I still have to know about it still so I can make a recording.Archivist
It is the archivist's duty to record all Sacred Pearl Guardians made and adopted.
There is no archivist at the moment.
