Echo Canines!
Their back feet are mainly flat, and they don't have very long, thick legs. They actually are pretty stubby for a dog. Echo canines are very sturdy and have the strength of a rhino and the skills of a big cat. The loud barks they emit are long echo's and they're often strained and loud, depending on their emotion.
Their tail is stretchy and made mainly out of a cartilaginous-like substance. It is pretty durable, and they have no nerves there, so docking, hitting it on things, and plain just doing anything to it won't matter to the actual dog. All cuts are covered in a semi-sweet oily substance secreted by a layer between the skin and muscle of the canine, so if a cut runs deep enough, it will be released as a antiseptic.
It is rare for a canid to have dull eyes, and usually is associated with health issues like blindness, deafness, muteness, lameness, and sometimes severe mental disorders. Eyes are the gateway to how healthy the canid is. These canines are closely related to the Palm Civet, have the face-type of a lab-pit mix, and show some rather odd behaviors.
They have a long, bat-like tongue that they use to lick up nectar from flowers and they can scoop of a whole cluster of berries with their long tongue. Tongue and noses are usually pink/black, but can vary.
Coming with a variety of mutations, from antelope horns to puffin tufts, these dogs are extremely varied.
Their ears are semi-floppy and they have a natural ear wax that is a mite repellent.
Summary
Now, these dogs were found in a small area out in the middle of a German town. The people just assumed the dogs were some strange mutt-type dog and didn't do much about it, but after close inspection from scientists and veterinarians, they discovered it was a whole new species.
Now... 'canid' is really stretching it, as these are not true canids. They more resemble a lemur in their genetic code, but because of their appearance, they have earned the class 'canid'. Highly lovable, social creatures, these pseudo-dogs took the world by storm, replacing the beloved Golden retriever and Labrador retriever with their iconic looks and personalities.
