Features
Doreans have a similarity to regular dragons, but they themselves are very different. Doreans have fluffy manes down their necks, which makes them unique. The rank of the Dorean in the flock depends on how big their mane is, not how strong or smart they are! This doesn’t mean the Doreans with small manes are mistreated, for Doreans are very kind creatures. Their tails can be as long as their body, or as short as their head. Their tails also have a puff of fur at the tip and swirls on their ears holding all of their magic. Male Doreans have cheek fur, while females do not.
Behavior + Ranking
Doreans are extremely kind and peaceful animals! They love to care for their friends as well as other animals and you will never see one harming another. A group of Doreans is called a flock. Their flocks are just like wolf packs. Usually it’s a family of about 5 dragons as well as some unrelated dragons being accepted as family. Some flocks can be as large as 20 dragons. Each flock has it’s own ranking system just like wolves. The bigger the mane, the higher the ranking! Each flock has a leader, usually a male but it can be a female. The leader's mate, if female, will usually wear a beaded chain around her tail showing that she has a high rank, if she doesn't have a large mane. Any dragon in the flock can breed as well as the high ranked Doreans, as long as they don’t inbreed.
History
The ancestors of the Doreans and their flocks used to live in the jungle, which wasn’t a pleasant place for them. They had no other nutritious food except live animals like birds, hogs, rabbits and snakes, which they dreaded because they disliked eating anything alive. The ancestors could not take any more of it, so they used the remaining magic left in their bodies to give invisible flight to the rest of the few Doreans living at that time, hoping they would find a better home. After the elders passed on, the rest of the Doreans went in search of a new home. They had searched for months before finding The Cliffs of Anabania. It supplied luscious fruit and flowing streams of fresh water for the dragons to live off of. They quickly learned to love Anabania, so they called it their home, inviting other animals into the land. The young Doreans soon came to realize that the magic in the swirls of their ears and tails provided healing and nourishment to birds and other flying creatures as well. Today, they continue to use their magic to heal birds of all kinds!
