Eevee, as you all know, can change into different pokemon using stones easiest. But what about the two pokemon who only evolve when loved enough? What about how one evolves during the day and one evolves during the night? How did this come to being when there are light and dusk stones that theoriotically should be able to evolve them?
Why don't they evolve them?
That's probably an idea for another pokemon discussion, but I want to tell of Umbreon and Espeon, The Legend of Night and Day
It all started long ago when the regions just begun to expand...
There was once two twin sisters, both Eevees who loved each other very much.
The two sisters always stayed with each other no matter what, and helped each other through sickness and fear. When the older of the two got sick, the other Eevee nursed the sick sister back to health with her knowledge of herbs and oran berries. When is was night and the younger sister got scared of the dark, the other Eevee would calm her down and read her stories until she fell asleep.
But... they both had distinct differences.
The younger of the twins was obsessed with the day, always looking for new berries and keeping happy the whole time with no secrets. She was a little bit helpless, for she always relied on her sister to help her with everything. The older of the twins, however, was more reserved and mysterious. She was obsessed with the secrets the night held, and what lay in the shadows when no one was around to see. The older of the two began to spend more time on her own, and her younger sister began to grow afraid of the dark.
One day, the younger of the two sisters followed her older sister into her mysterious adventures during the night. The young Eevee crawled behind a bush, watching as her sister made he way to the center of a clearing. The older sister looked around, but in seeing nothing opened a bundle of leaves she had in her jaws. Three dusk stones fell out into a triangle shape before her, and the ground in between the dusk stones began to change color. The ground began to swirl into a dark blue, then to purple, then to black and red. A portal began to form above the ground, and something from within then other realm flew forward. A gigantic pokemon, with black wings and a grey, red and gold body, flew forth out into the open. The older sister nuzzled the head of the strange pokemon.
"I'm so glad you could make it Giratina, master of the night! It's been forever since I could see you again, with having to watch over my sister and all." The Eevee wagged her tail.
"It has been too long Eevee, I brought a gift for your discoveries you brought me before. You will evolve into a new pokemon never before seen." Giratina smiled, then sent a beam rushing towards the Eevee.
Eevee's body was gone, replaced by a glowing white orb that gave off a blue glow. The orb began to spin, the morphed into a different shape. The glow faded and revealed a creature never before seen. Black, smooth fur; red, shinning eyes; and yellow ringlets through the black. The older twin eevee was no more.
"You are now an Umbreon, legend of the night moon! The secrets of the night are yours to treasure! Your powers are now of the dark night, and you can travel to and from the spirit realm as I do." Giratina cried in triump.
"STOP! Big sis why are leaving me?!"
Giratina and Umbreon turned to face her younger sister running from the bushes into the paws of Umbreon.
"Eevee What are you doing here? You're afraid of the dark and you know you shouldn't be here." Umbreon gasped, holding the crying little sister in her paws.
"I didn't want you to change, I wanted you to be the same sister and always take care of me." Eevee cried.
Umbreon hugged her sister close "Oh Eevee, I will always take care of you. But I need you to be strong if when I am not around. Don't worry, I am still your sister."
A roar sounded through the darkness as the sun rose on top the hill, followed by a figure facing through the sky. Giratina's eyes widened and her wings rose stiff with fear.
"DIALGA"S COMMING!!?!? BUT HOW?!?! I thought I lost him along time ago, oh great now he's going to see what I have done! I made a new pokemon and now he's going to kill me!!!!!" Giratina shreiked, running back through the portal and sealing the entrance by knocking the dusk stones to the side.
Umbreon grabbed her little sister in her jaws and ran to the edge of the clearing.
"Little sis, stay strong. Tell Dialga it was my fault and you tried to stop me and he may spare you." Umbreon whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"But, sis, what will happen to you---" Eevee barely had time to finish before the trees shook with the impact of the giant pokemon.
Dialga strutted forward towards Umbreon and her little sister, eyes narrowed menacingly.
"WHAT DID YOU DO GIRATINA!?! CREATING A NEW POKEMON WITHOUT MY CONSENT? YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR SIN!!!!" Dialga bellowed, "AND WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELVES POKEMON?"
"I am sorry Dialga, master of the Day, but I helped Giratina escape. I should be the one punished, just leave my sis alone she didn't do anything." Umbreon lowered her head.
"I see, so you're being noble to protect your helpless little sister eh? Hmmm, this is difficult. you have to be punished for your crime, but I suppose.... Ok, I'll make you a promise. I will make your sister equally as powerful as you are so you don't have to worry when you are serving your punishment. But in return, you will be banished to the spirit world for all eternity. But since my powers don't work in the night, you may only return to this world when it is night. My will be done!" Dialga rearranged the dusk stones back into the portal formation, and Umbreon walked inside, looking back mournfully to her sister.
"Goodbye, my sister." She whipered, faint enough for only Eevee to hear, before disappearing into the black spirit world.
"Alright, it is your turn for power young one." Dialga blasted a beam of pink light towards Eevee.
Eevee's body became as Umbreon's had, a white orb with blue light. The orb quickly changed shape, until she became purple and thin.
"There, the red gem on your forehead is the same color as your sister's eyes. Your new name is Espeon, legend of the day sun! You will now be able to communicate through telepathy, but be warned and tell your sister of this warning too: if you dare step foot in the spirit world during day or night or she step foot into this world at day, the power gem on your forehead i have given you will disappear and you will have to deal with me." Dialga glared once more before his image grew faint until he had entirely disappeared from sight.
From that day on, Umbreon ad Espeon have held their agreement and only saw each other in the real world during the cover of night. To this day, Espeon waits every day at dusk for Umbreon to appear, laying the three dusk stones in a triangle for her in the clearing each night.
