Finned otters were created as a scientific experiment: Project River Wolf. The goal was to create a species that could be used to guard bodies of water in the same way people have guard dogs. This resulted in a species of otter that was physically similar to a sea otter, but had much of the mentality of a giant otter and was larger than both. Due to the variety of genes used they developed abnormalities including horns on males, razor-sharp dorsal fins, and odd pelt colours. The project was deemed a failure as the species retained their fun-loving spirit and ultimately failed in their guardian role.

Name: Nagooset( which is the name for the sun in the Micmac tribe in eastern Canada)
Gender: Female
Short Story: Splash! there was a flip in the water as Nagooset sprag from her nap. Splash the sound of fin and otter hiting water. She dives into the water, there it is again. A little bit down stream there is a large rainbow trout. Splish slash it flips in the air. There is a flash of gold as Nagooset tries to catch the beauty. But just as she is about to reach it it darts through a hole in a loose net, Nagooset follows. But as you might have guessed, Nagooset get stuck. The hole is to small.she thrashes to try to get out, she must get that fish! But the fish just swims back and forth right in front of her nose. Taunting her. She lets out a disapointed cry as it sarts to swim downstream. She gives one last wiggle, and a cord snaps, then another. She is free! then in the blink of an eye she goes racing down the river right after the fish, darting this way and that. Just as she is about to reach it, a claws length away. Bam it disappears. She circles back, where could it have gone? Crunch. She pops her head out of the water, and there on the shore is Tepgunaset ( means the moon in the Micmac tribe) happily crunching off the head of a beautiful rainbow trout, her rainbow trout.
" that i a fish you shall never get." he says in otter with a smirk on his face.

- I got the names from yahoo by looking up on google: foreign names for the sun.
