WHAT IS A MAKOATL?

A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered
off the coast of the greenland sea. They have the powerful tail
and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon.
They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-
adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat.
They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious
hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they
are very protective and mothering to their offspring,
as well as to each other the majority of the time.

Paris Belle. I chose this name because of her French cultural background, her beauty, and her elegance. It just fits like a glove! Her nickname is Paris, but some tend to call her Belle.

Favorite Flower:
Orchids are her favourite flower, especially light purple/pink ones.

Why:
Paris loves Orchids because of their beauty and significance; they were her mother's favourite flower too. They are gorgeous flowers that look gorgeous non-stop, and she wants to be as beautiful as them. Yup, Paris has always been a vain makoatl - but vanity is often the result of pain. This is something she used to never be lacking of.
Her mother died when she was young, which drove her father dangerously mad. This left her coping all on her own - with nobody to turn to. Tears often flooded from her beautiful eyes, and the only thing that kept her sane was the thought that her mother would have wanted her to be happy. Orchids, the gorgeous flowers of her mother's favour, also comforted her in these terrible times.
These days, however, she is happier. True, she still mourns the loss of her family, but in a way it inspired her to do better things. Now, she spends all of her free time trying to comfort others who are going under stages of depression: her soothing voice and calm demeanour really helps with this.

Why: Because of its beauty, and simple complexity. Like a clock, it's gears all turn together. How can something so small and simple be so complex and... Well, interesting. It's light pink, but as you travel inward there are beautiful bursts of red, white, and the most hidden, yellow. It's truly and simply beautiful.

The Lotus Flower
Why:
The reason its her favorite is because it means so much to her. Its the only link she has to her mom left. Her mother died when she was about in her teens, her father was never in the picture and her mother was the only one that was there for her. Her mother loved flowers, especially Lotus flowers. They used to have lots of lotus flowers all around their house when Lily was a child. Her mother would always say that flowers were always tougher then they looked. And they were. Her mother's lotuses survived for along time, through harsh winters and dry summers, and they still looked their best! But then all went awry. Her mother began to cough one day and it just got worse form there. One day when she was in the hospital and was on her last few breathes, lily was there tears running down her face, before smiling and reaching out to grab a lotus flower that she had brought for her mother and said, "Here ma, a little lotus for your journey to heaven. It'll keep you safe." She looked down at it in her paw, and smiled sadly, shaking her head as she pushed it back into Lily's paw and said to her, "No, you'll need it more then me, take it with you where every you go, to remind you of all the fun times we had together. I'll always be looking after you." And with that she closed her eyes and passed away. Lily was devastated, but she overcame her sadness and now owns a flower shop, where she sells mostly lotus flowers in all different colors, to honor her mother. She also has the same flower around her neck, that her mother gave her, she has never taken it off, and she knows that her mother is watching over her and would be very proud of her. That's why the lotus flower is her favorite flower.

Ianthe

In Greek mythology, Ianthe was the daughter of Oceanus, the ruler of the seas, and was said to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. When she died, the Gods made purple flowers grow on her grave.

I choose this name for its relations to not only the ocean, but flowers as well. It seemed to fit so well for this beautiful Makoatl.

Ianthe had always been fascinated with the myth involving her namesake. She developed a hobby, trying to find every purple (or vaguely purple) flowers that could match the myth. Since the myth was very vague about what type of flowers had been grow upon the grave, Ianthe had many different options. But then, she found one that she found very beautiful, and it fit the myth well. It was the Sea Fig, a flower that grows alongside the ocean, and is an invasive species in Greece. She choose to believe that this was the flower that fit the myth, for it grew along the sea, and wasn't native to Greece, so therefore, in her mind, the ancient Greek Gods must have planted it there. Besides, it was a light pinkish-purple, that closely matched her own markings. It fit her perfectly.
