What was this?
The young ceiral was up until the crack of dawn playing in the thick layer of snow that covered the earth as far as he could see. He had spent his whole time dashing back and forth, rolling, jumping, anything he could do to keep himself amused.
Frisco and his mother moved around a lot, so he never really had any friends. He was lonely, yes, but he made the best of it!
But now...as the sun rose from the horizon and warmed his back, a great big mass stretched out ahead of the stunned child and kept very still, only to have the strange...thing....do the same. Frisk had never seen anything like it!
Was this creature something that only came out during the day? It'd make sense, after all he was never awake this late before! "H-hello!" he squeaked timidly, watching as it matched his movements exactly.
He tilted his head to the side and sat down, curious. "...What's your name? Are you new here? I'm Frisk!"
...Slowly but surly, he was beginning to get offended. The mass of darkness only copied his movements and never once replied back to him. He huffed in frustration.
"You know, that's not very nice. Didn't your mother ever teach you better?"
Again, no answer.
"You're weird. Ooh! I know! Why don't we play a game? That might get you talking!" His eyes lit up instantly. "Let's play hide and seek! Okay? Ready!" Frisk covered his eyes, pushing the numbers out of his mouth slowly. "...Eightnineten! Ready or not, here I-" He stopped in the middle of his sentence when he looked down and saw that his new friend hadn't moved a bit. "...Okay, I guess you didn't like that game. How about we play tag instead? I bet you can't catch me!"
And without warning, the little munchkin raced off, sending snow flying every which way. Ha! The poor guy probably wasn't fast enough to catch him! Frisk looked over his shoulder proudly and, like his guessed, saw nothing but the white blanket. He was triumphant! That was, until he looked ahead of him. The dark shape was right there, staring up at him. Frisk squealed in surprise and tumbled into the snow, colliding with his new friend instantly. "Woah! You're really fast!" he said with a big grin. "No one has ever caught up to me that fast before! Hey, what else should we play?"
Though his new friend didn't talk much, he was a joy to have around. It was only a few minutes after they started to play their new game that Frisk heard his mother yelling at him to come back inside. "...Okay mother!" he replied sadly, flattening his ears against his head. The young male turned slowly to his buddy. "I gotta go now, I'll see you later though!"
Despite him saying that, his friend followed him back home,
and he has stayed with him ever since.
