I nugged Sasha and Khali, (Khali being the oldest) my cubs toward the water. It had been a long day, and my cubs were starving and thirsty.
We went closer to the water, and one of my cubs squealed. It was Sasha. I looked in the direction of what she was squealing at. And there stood a hunter. I reared up on my hind legs, roaring in anger. This human had gone to far. "Run children!" I roared. Sasha scrambled away but Khali ran to her mother. "Khali come back!" I heard Sasha yell. I couldn't turn to send Khali back, I had to keep this human distracted. I charged at him, and I heard a loud bang, and a sharp pain exploded in my shoulder. I jumped back down on all fours for mor speed. I lumbered toward him, and another pain in my side this time. I roared in agony. I kept running, and running and running. He kept shooting and shooting and shooting. Finally I fell to the floor just as I got to the man, not able to go any more. I turn around to see my precious babies scramble into a bush. Khali looked back. "I love you and I always will." I spoke. The god Pan looked down at me from Olympus as the hunter raised his knife. Pan did not want one of his beautiful creations to die. Quickly before the hunter could strike, he turned me into a flower, and the hunter into a puddle of water. I do not remember more.

I stumbled toward the water with mama. I nuzzled her back. Then I turned and saw something strange I had never seen before. He looked as if all his fur had fallen off, and he got it replaced. He frightened me, and I squealed. Mama noticed something was wrong, and she didn't like him, so I knew he wasn't someone to hang out with. Mama told us to run, but I didn't want to leave her behind. But I had to. I began to run, but noticed Khali was going toward the scary thing. "Khali, come back!" I called, nervous. She didn't come. Mama began to run after the scary thing. I grabbed Khali by the scruff, though it was hard because she was older. I dragged her back as a loud banging noise pierced my ears. The noise got Khali into the right mind. We began to run again, this time in the same direction. A few more banging noises we were at the bushes. I turned around to see mama on the ground, bleeding, the scary thing standing over her. I turned away, not wanting to look. I turned back when I heard her say she loved me. "I love you too mama" I said silently, and then she was a flower. Khali ran to it and picked it up, placing it in her ear. She cried and cried, but I couldn't cry. I just stood there, speechless.

I heard Shasha squeal but kept walking. Then mama roared and I turned. She yelled for us to run, and She ran at something that looked like something she described as a human. I ran after her, mama had told me they were very bad, and I didn't want her to get hurt. Then there was a loud bang, and Sasha told me to go back. The bang scared me, and I scrambled back. More banging, and we kept running. Then I heard mama roar in agony this time. I turned to see her on the floor, bleeding, a knife about to dig into her. She said, "I love you and I always will." and Sasha said, "I love you too mama" and I said, "Don't leave! I love you!" Then, she was a flower. I ran to were she was just standing, and picked the flower. I placed it on my head. "I will never forget you mama" I whispered and began to cry.
