Username: FlawedName: Ruby Ma'at
(REW-bee MAY-aut)
Ruby because of how delicately the dark red is used throughout her design, and her seemingly glowing red eyes.
Ma'at is the Ancient Egyptian goddess of law, mortality, and justice.
I just thought that they seemed like two fitting names, and couldn't decide between the two, so I put them together :3
When addressing her, though, never call her by both names. Its either Ruby, or if you aren't great friends with her, them Ma'at. Gender: Female
I think that she would do best in my family as a female, because she would be able to balance out the angry, rebellious nature of Angelique and the bubbly, sweet, carefree personality of Rizelle, while also keeping the extremely solitary Magma and overly-outgoing Enitan in check. She would basically be "the woman in charge", always doing her best to keep everyone happy and safe.5 Word Personality:Uptight, Loyal, Trustworthy, Dominant, IntelligentStory or Art:My bright red eyes scan the crowd around me and I let out a small growl as I see him. The whiptail that broke into my den early this morning, and stole many of my most valuable possessions, including my Golden Ankh necklace charm, and many of my scrolls. I could see him exchange my possessions for other things at a merchant's shop in the streets of my hometown of Cairo. I knew the Merchant. I had saved his life a time or two, I knew what he was doing. He gave the theif a small, fake pearl necklace, barely convincing him that if he takes it to a certain shop, that will pay double the Ankh's worth.
This merchant was the only one in this part of town that would trade instead of pay for gold. I remembered back to our earlier conversation...
"I need a favor" I whispered to the human from under the table.
He jumped at my voice, "Ma'at? What are you doing here?" He attempted to make his voice and body language reflect his normal behavior, but was doing terribly.
"I just told you, I need a favor" I snapped. "Now bend down and talk to me, they won't see you here." I watched as he walked over to me and bent down onto his knees.
"I was robbed this morning. Another Whiptail. He didn't see me, so when he comes here and tries to sell you my Ankh, "
"HE TOOK YOUR ANKH?!" He shouted, and I shoved his head to the ground. "Ahh!" I didn't hit his head too hard, he was crying at the pain of my claws on his hair.
I bent my head low, next to his ear. "You had better shut up. And you had better make this work!" I hissed. "I want you to give him the least valuable thing in your shop, then send him to the Library. Make sure he has my scrolls!" I released his head, then walked slowly to the library's front door, where I now observed my plan.
I went inside, and watched through the window, then sat down in the corner, under a bookshelf marked with books and stories and poems by rather dark writers, such as Edgar Allan Poe.
I heard a small ringing noise as the door to the library opened, and I watched the white crest of the theif from a space between bookshelves as he walked around to where I was.
Okay, il admit I was a slight bit intimidated, but you never let them know you sweat. He sat down in front of me, his bag dropping to the ground by his haunches.
He hadn't seen me before, and I had only seen him as he was fleeing my home, so this was my first true look at him.
His brown scales were swirled with darker and lighter waves, and his pale blue green eyes bore into me from where they sat, a good foot and a half separating the tops of our heads. I knew males were larger, but he... He was huge! I knew I could take him, though, if I had to. Though normally my intelligent speaking and sharp-tongued ability to hack at one's emotions will do better than that.
"Ruby?" He asked.
My lips curled up to reveal my sharp teeth, "That's Ma'at to you, Theif!" I hissed as I circled him, now blocking his exit.
He shook his head furiously, "No no no no no! Ruby! It's me!" I could tell by his accent that he was from South Africa. I had only ever been there once, when I was but a few years old. Five or six, maybe. I narrowed my eyes.
"You will call me Ma'at, you despicable excuse for a Whiptail! How dare you-"
"Shhhhhhh!!" A human woman said, a finger to her lips.
I nodded, then turned back to the theif, my voice lowered dramatically.
"How dare you break into my home, Steal my scrolls! And my Ankh!!"
"Ruby! Ruby, calm down, take a second! It's me! Enitan!"
...
Enitan...?
...
no.
a few moments passed before I muttered. "No."
I thought I remembered him somewhere. But I thought it was just another coincidence.
I was wrong.
"Yes, Ruby. It's me! Its En! Do you remember me?"
I did. When I was very young, no older than five or six years, I had traveled with my Father to South Africa to do some Missionary work. In the three months that I was there, he would leave me at the hotel, and I would often go out to the park across from it to play with some of the other Whiptail fluffies.
One day, I met Enitan. It was an instant friendship. He was two years older than me, but I had always been mature for my age. Even then though, we would play all day and have tons of fun.
My eyes had widened and filled with emotion during my flashback, and as I snapped out of it, I drove the happy thoughts from my mind.
He was my best friend.
But now he was a theif.
"I want my scrolls back." I spat.
He quickly rummaged through his bag, pulling out my scrolls and handing the rolled up papyrus paper to me.
"I'm really sorry, Ruby, I-"
"STOP CALLING ME THA-"
A chorus of "shhhhh"s cut me off and I took up my scrolls and bolted from the library, ignoring En's... The theif's pleas for me to return.

I put my scrolls back up on their proper shelves in my bookcase where they belonged, next to my many, many books anout my home country, Egypt, and our culture. Fiction and Non-Fiction books of Pharoahs and Princesses and Ancient Times were occupying every inch of every shelf on my large bookcase. And then there was another book. Obviously out of place, the mostly dark brown leather bound book stuck out like a sore thumb among the bright binds of the other works of Egyptian literature. I ran a claw down the name gently, feeling the indents of the letters carefully, the empty book my father gave me on my way to South Africa.
My journal.
I hadn't written in it since I was a young teenager.
I pulled it out and opened it to the first page.
June 27th, 2008.
Yay! In so excited! Daddy got me this diary today, and hes taking me to South Africa! He said I'm gonna make a bunch of friends, and have tons of fun! I can't wait! Daddy said there are lions here! And, and giraffes! I'm gonna have a lot of fun!
- Rubybelle
I gave a small half-smile at the nickname my father used for me when I was younger, as I turned to the next page. A week later.

Daddy was right! I did make a friend! Hes 8 though, so I don't know if daddy will let me play with him, but I snuck out of the hotel today ( shhh! Don't tell him! ) so I could go to the park and see him. Hes really cute! His nane is Enitan. But its funny, its said like "Uneaten" ! Isnt that funny? He must be rrally could, though, because his crest is white! he said it doesn't nother him that much, only if he ever leaves south africa or goes somewhere cold. His eyes are really pretty though! I wish I had blue eyes! He gave me this feather, black like a crow's, and he tied it to my horn.
I reached up and touched the delicate feather that still stuck out from my left horn. I never took it off.
The next part made me almost break down in tears.

I hope I get to come back here again! I know I have to go home tomorrow, but I don't wanna leave... Noone likes me at home. Noone at school or in my neighborhood... Not even any human children like me. At least I have one friend here. Maybe ill see him again someday.
I reached for my cloth that I always kept by my nest, with the Wedjat eye on it and wiped my tears on the dark people fabric.
Soon, I heard a knock at the door. I walked slowly over to it. It was probably the merchant, to return my Ankh. Thanj goodness, because I felt so naked without the thick gokd charm weighing down my neck.
But it wasn't the merchant.
I peered through the window of my small, mud-brick home, and a.mini-heart attack made my breath quicken. I watched Enitan knock on the door, something grasped in his ivory claws. As he turned slightly, I saw a sparkle shine off the object from the slowly setting sun.
My Ankh.
What should I do? Do I let him knock until he comes to think I'm not here? Normally I would do that. It want against any laws. But...
My Ankh...
Hesitantly, I reached out with a silvery scaled hand, reluctantly pulling open the wooden door.
I started at his hands nonchalantly.
"Ruby?" He asked, quiet and timid.
"i said dont call, me that." I growled low.
Sorrow took over his expression. "um... Ma'at...?"
I lifted my head to meet hours eyes. "Better. Now, what do you want?" I said quickly, a false bitterness to my voice.
He looked down at his paws ashamedly, and I looked down to see exactly what I expected. Ask outstretched arm, with my large, golden Ankh laying heavily in his paw, a deep black ribbon hanging elegantly below.
I took it up in my item claws, holding it gently a second before slipping the robbin around my neck.
I had nothing to say to him, but out of politeness, which is second only to obeying law in my life, I muttered a small "Thank you." And returned my gaze to my feet. A moment passed before he said something.
"I'm ready sorry, Ru-... Ma'at... I didn't know toys was your house. But I'm so hapy to see you after all these years!"
"No." I said, shaking my head.
"No...? No what?" he asked, confused.
I kept my gaze down, shaking my head, eyes closed.
Defiance. "No I dont. Ruby, I-"
"What did I say about calling me that!?" I shouted. "You are a thief now, Enitan. I have based my entire life on following every rule, every law that exists. I refuse to even be seen with such a criminal." I spat.
Tears welled up in his eyes. Those wonderful, turquoise crystalline eyes that seemed to point straight into his soul. "You... Ma'at, you don't... You dont understand, I..."
"You what, huh?!" I yelled.
It broke my heart to do this, especially to him. He had been my only real friend, even though it was just for such a short time. He hadn't hurt me, why was I hiring him?"
Slowly, he spoke, "I... I have been doing this for a very long time, Ma'at."
What? "How long?" I nartowed my eyes.
He hesitated, then again slowly he spoke, "My mother taught me how to... to steal what I needed... when I was only three years old."
My jaw dropped.
"I've known nothing ever since." He looked at me, sadness and sorrow mixing the colors to fill those beautiful eyes.
No.
"You... You were a thief egbert since... Even when... I... I trusted you..."
"No, Ruby, I'm still the same dragon that you knew then! Well, in a sense... I've matured a bit, but you can still trust me! I still want to be your friend! Dip you remember my promise?" He asked, voice low and soft.
I sat looking at him silently, doubt filling my gaze. No way dois he remember that, after all these years...
Did he?
He began to recite slowly, "I promise, Rubybelle," he had said years ago as his claws rry tired the black feather of Ma'at near the base of my deep red horn, "that I will always be your friend. No matter what may happen between us, if anything, I will always be there for you. No matter what. Youre my best friend, and I promise, I will find you somehow when I grow up. And we will be best friends forever." He finished.
"I..." I couldn't speak. He had remembered, wired for word, the promise he made to a total stranger many, many years ago.
"Thats why I came to Egypt. I've been here for about for months, trying to find you..." He said, his voice beginning to quiver.
My eyes overflowed she I turned, walking slowly into my house.
"come in..." I heard myself say, surprising me.
He stepped in, then closed the door, blocking out the cold of the Egyptian desert as it moved swiftly over the sandy terrain.

Far away, many lights could be seen, bouncing delicately around the surfaces of two great pyramids. A rather small group of humans gathered, having traveled by camel to this spot. A man, obviously the leader, began to speak loudly.
"My friends," he said to the other seven men that gathered around him, "I have gathered you here 3p speak about what we are going to do about this... this creature that has been terrorizing out village!"
Voices spoke up,
"He stole my whole safe of gold!"
"It ripped apart my house and stoke my wife's jewelry!"
"Lets kill it!"
"You know exactly what needs to be done!"
The leader thought a moment, then said triumphantly, "Yes. We will kill it tonight!"
The crowd cheered.
... To Be Continued.
EDIT: Instagram isn't working well for me, so I can't do art (which sucks cause I already started to draw her ;n;) but I guess I'll haver to work extra hard on her story!! Yeah it's not nearly done yet xD I'm having a lot of fun with it, though, I hope you don't hate long stories ;n;
EDIT 2: Ill be writing it in my spare time irl in a notebook I have, and typing it on here when I have time to. (I'm doing that to conserve energy on my phone, and also cause we aren't allowed phones on in school, and thats where I get a lot of creative bursts xD) But it will probably be a To Be Continued for a long time, because I can't seem tp find a place where I want to stop with this xD Just try to imagine whays happening, thats how I wrote things. I imagine it, and wrote what I imagine :3
The story, so far, includes the present time, flashbacks from her past, and will come to include why she had lived in the human world all her life and how she came to live on Argentum (the island-like country where all my characters live, which was inspired for my need for a place to have my characters all interact with eachother, including WtDs.) So I hope you enjoy
