(Sorry about it being sideways, I don't use the new version.)
This is a Nightshade fanfic, with some of my crazy ideas thrown in.
Winter raced through the forest, dirt spraying around her. At this point in time, her powers were useless. She couldn't surf the snow, she couldn't fly up a tree. No. She had to run. In a dress that made her stand out. Dark blue against the oranges, browns, and reds of the fall around her. Her platinum blonde hair flew around her like snowflakes. She knew that she couldn't run anymore, but she ran anyway. Hope drove her on. Pure hope. The horde of Guardians was catching up, bounding restlessly through the leasf-strewn ground. Where was the snow when she needed it? Without paying attention, she tripped up on a tree root and flew into the ground. Sure enough, the Guardians made a circle around her. Ren took a step forward, a dark brown wolf staring at her through coal-black eyes. "You tresspasser! The Keepers aren't allowed here anymore, and you know that!" He snarled, somehow changing into human form when she hadn't noticed. His wolf shadow hung over him like a cape, threatening to change him back.
"I-I..." She coughed, unable to take it anymore. "I am not a Keeper. I am a great decendant of them. I have a sister, and two brothers, and we all use the seasons to our advantage." As Winter stopped talking, snowflakes floated from the sky, piling around her in the long silence as the Guardians digested what she had just said. It all was true. Summer was her sister, and she loved the green spruse trees. This happened to be her favorite forest. Fall and Spring were her brothers, and Fall's reign had just ended. The first snowfall of the year was when her powers began. The last was when it ended.
She was startled by Ren's stone-cold voice. "What do you control?"
She smirked. "You'll find out soon enough." She felt strength pouring into her limbs as the snowflakes melted onto her ice-cold skin. She knew that she was paling, allowing her to melt away. Her dress was paling, too, as it always had. Her special dress, which turned white in the winter and bright blue in the summer. She closed her eyes, melting away.
"Hey, where'd she go? She just disappeared." Dax said, changing into his human form. She realized how handsome he looked, with sculpted muscles and a slick haircut. She ignored the comment and looked around, spotting a tree in the distance. She ran for it, spraying snow in her wake. SHe could hear the Guardians following, but she raced up the tree like a squirrel, late for hibernation. Opening her blue eyes, she knew that the wolf-humans would spot them, as they were the only thing that didn't change after the seasons. Calling a wave of snow, Winter made her escape, but traveled in a big circle so that the Guardians wouldn't follow. She jumped off, finally, to stalk them slowly, her newly-grown snowshoes making no prints. She listened, the chill air bringing their voices.
"Dax, no." She heard Fey snarl sternly. "You can't go after her. Not alone."
"Why? You don't trust me?" He retorted.
Fey sighed dramatically. "Dax, I do trust you, I just don't know what she has in store. She could shoot snowballs at you, or freeze you or something like that."
Those powers are stupid. Everyone can shoot snowballs. And you freeze naturally anyway. Winter thought, annoyed. Cool is more like shooting icicles from your hands.
She heard Dax storm off in her direction. She spotted him through narrowed eyes, and twisted around him, snowflakes dancing on his tanned skin.
"Dax," I gently called, revealing myself.
He whipped around, and pushed me into the snow. I would've been offended if he didn't know that it only strngthened me. "Winter," He replied. "I need to leave. I'll be under the trees every Saturday afternoon. If you don't meet me in a month, I'll know that you don't care." He turned and walked away, but I followed him back.
"Come on. She's not here;Let's go." Dax fell in behind the Haldis pack as they moved away. I slipped into the clearing, holding out my hand. Snowflakes gently landed on my arm, only to be blown away by the wind.
"Don't go," I murmured sadly as I watched Dax's figure disappear in the flurry of white.
