What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

In one book I read there was this black and white kelpie that was used for races. It was called Skata in the land's traditional language that I'm pretty sure described her coloring or the magpie, which is an intelligent, commonly black and white bird.

This Mutato's name is Rhonda. She is named after my aunt.

Why would I name her that?
I would name her that after my aunt we call her honey, but he real name is Rhonda. She's very simple and lived the color red! She loves Black, White, and Red! So I thought I'd name this after her and her colors and interests.

Gender?
I would call her girl after my aunt, but she could be either gender on my opinion. That's just an opinion.

Personality?
She's serious and mysterious. But when she's comfortable she gets gentle and talkie:) She will be very shy and superstitious when you first meet her but when you talk more she will too.

Reason for choosing the name:
Varen has always been a favorite name of mine. To me it's mysterious, and dark and with the right voice can sound wonderfully beautiful as well as scary. This design just seems to fit it I've noticed.

Varen
See him flying,
flying through the night.
Though he has no wings,
Nor has no cry.
His eyes are crimson in the light,
His teeth are sharp, his teeth are bright.
His smile crooked,
His vision slight.
He sees no reason
Nor tells of no light.
No hope or sorrow in his eyes,
But he comes alive
During playtime.
