what are mohawk ferrets?
-----Mohawk Ferrets are rather large compared to their ancestral roots. You see, they are in fact direct descendents of our own little ferret pets. Of course there is a little canine mixed in there and who knows what else, it's quite hard to say how they got that fancy little poof of hair down their spine. But all silliness aside let's get down to business.
-----There isn't much to say about these critters. They don't carry around special orbs and pendents, they don't even really have fancy markings. Mohawk Ferrets are just simply.....Mohawk Ferrets. In case you didn't see, the thing that gives them their name is a fluffy 'mohawk' along their spine. This of course varies in length depending on age, gender, etc. A male MF will most likely have a larger tuft of hair than a female for obvious reasons.
-----Mohawk Ferrets live in the Amazon Forest. They burrow into the ground, much like a prairie dog, and occasionally find refuge in a hollow tree. It is normal behavior for a female Ferret to have a litter with one male then move to a new site to continue breeding. Hostile behavior between males and females is nothing out of the ordinary either. When competing for a female, male Ferrets will essentially battle until one or the other dies and or gives up. This is one reason for those large talons of theirs. Other uses include digging, scratching, and cutting into food.
-----The diet of a Mohawk Ferret consists of mainly insects, grubs, and small berries or fruit. The average size is a little bigger than your shoe. They are about the length of your inner elbow to your finger tips. They stand about as high as half a hand. This of course varies for all Mohawk Ferrets. Males are generally larger, with bright flashy colors to show off and challenge other males. Females are usually small and consist of simpler, gentle tones.
-----In all, Mohawk Ferrets are nothing special. They make excellent friends and pets but are preferred to be kept in the wild. If you are interested in these little guys go ahead and try your luck at adopting!
