Snake

Postby Chaichai » Mon Aug 19, 2013 7:25 am

Well I tried experimenting with color. Sorry to those of you who aren't snake fans or something. I really wish I could have a pet snake but I would not be able to stand feeding it live mice. Any hew I may come back and edit later because I'm still not happy with the rocks.

Edit: Thank you so much for the feature!

Nice work. I like how you were kind of daring with the color you picked. :) I see that the snake goes off the screen, but it looks almost like it stopped instead of went on for a bit longer like it would have been. Snakes of that thickness aren't that short.
Overall, good job! :D

I love the picture! What kind of snake did you base it off off? ;u;
Also, you don't have to feed them live mice. It's actually better to feed frozen/thawed, that way the mouse doesn't suffer and the snake doesn't risk being bitten or scratched.

I based it off of a rock python and thanks for the tip. I didn't know you could buy frozen mice :what:

That's beautiful! I have a corn snake, for whom I buy frozen mice then thaw them out before it's time to feed her.

I love the color scheme and I can see the python resemblance. The shading and grass is nicely done as well. :) I wish I had that kind of talent...

Wall of text ahead!
My brother and I have a pet Speckled King (that was originally mine, but is now his because I wanted Guppies instead :) I even like snakes more than fish! :O ) But yeah, I found ours in our backyard and we feed it lizards and geckos we catch out here. However, if you find a snake in the wild, it probably won't eat anything unless you're really lucky.

But, as a starter, Corn snakes, Milk snakes, and King snakes are best to start out with. I believe Kings are the biggest of those three species, but most of the types of these families are fairly calm (speckled kings don't bite, even if you accidentally fling them around by their neck -.- I blame my brother). The Corns and Milks both have very bright, beautiful colorings, as well as being more active than some types. They also tend to be cheaper than most other similar reptiles.

<3 This is beautiful. And of course, adorable. ;o;

Looks like a Ball Python to me. :3 Other than teh color of course. xD

And as for wanting a snake;;

If you do decide on getting a snake, you can but pre killed mice/rats(for bigger snakes) from your local petstore that have been frozen. You just need to thaw them out before you feed them. I personally feed live, as some snakes(ex; my own) will refuse frozen-thawed. Otherwise I'd be all for pre killed, since they are also cheaper. x3

Also, along with that, when/if you ever get one, a Ball Python or Corn Snake are good for first time owners. <3 I own a beautiful ball python, named Moka. She's rather easy to care for, but even so you would still have to do a lot of research to make sure what snake would be right for you. And most importantly, if you would be willing/able to care for it. As some(Ball Pythons for example) can live for at least 20-30 years.

Just thought I'd help a bit. <3 I have some links to good sites that can give you info on caring for Ball Pythons, but other snakes I haven;t really looked into yet. XD
