yup, another page. timers off- I had dinner, and I have a baby bunny to take care of that is very attention needy >u< luff you Winnie~ <33 also, the darker blue in the boxes are Ellie's thoughts, not her vocals. and there is a speaking line from her, as you can see. though Clea is just sending everything through thought because, well you'll see. {just realized I spelled "beneath" wrong up there. screw ittttt~}
Page Twenty-One:
When I feel that I might finally be coming to my senses, I sit up and press a hand to my head. my skin is ice cold, but I am sweating. I look around, the movement of my eyes causing a prick of pain to lace through my head, but I do spot something. Oh hey~ what's that...? I think, trying to focus my vision on the blurry figure. And then I see it...
"I remember you!" I accuse, scooting away from the figure, recognizing it as the woman who had kidnapped (though I don't remember her name) me and then drugged answers, that I didn't even know I knew, out of me. "Get out, get away!" I yell, not realizing that there isn't technically a here to get out of.
But she ignores me and jumps right to the point, "The government has changed things right beneath the noses of the citizen and the law." I narrow my eyes, not willing to admit I have noticed this. the government is over-controlling and tends to set things to meet all their wished and make their job easier.
For once, I am lucky and Clea - as I now recall her name - doesn't read my thoughts. because she carries on with the same voice, only with added annoyance, "Haven't you seen the simplicity in how our district and other districts work? its blaringly obvious. granted, you probably haven't been to many other districts- but all their government heads have the same goal; and that is to achieve perfect simple-mindedness."
I bite my lip to not contradict her. while this might be true, the government also offers a lot in the form of safety, education, shelter, food, and honestly a great deal of organization and order. though I do admit, the government prods with certain things that should be left alone, and they do tend to over simplify things.
"Only problem is," Clea continues, "people are beginning to have a voice. Rebellious groups are forming and speaking their minds and trying to convince others. and you know what?" she pauses, to see if I will jump in. clearly, she isn't very sharp when it comes to common sense, because I obviously wasn't going to add to this conversation. though I do wonder if these "groups" that she is talking about are related to the ones Sam mentioned, or if they are them.
"They want YOU Ellie." she concludes, and before I have time to object, my eyes flutter open and I am greeted by the chirping of birds and a bored-looking face staring down at me.
