It was a hot day. The sun was glaring down, and the birds were calling to each over in the trees. Vienetta was out playing with her friends, Cocoa and Beanie. "Hey, look over there! There's a cat!" Beanie whispered to Cocoa and Vienetta. "Im bored, should we go tease it?"
"I gotta admit, this game is getting quite boring now. And teasing cats is fun!" Cocoa exclaimed, her tail wagging at the though to chasing cats. "But, the cat wont like it, thats cruel!" Vienetta said, looking at the cat. "Its not like she's bothering us..." "Aww c'mon 'Netta, it'll be fun!" Beanie said. Cocoa and Beanie ran off in the direction of the cat.
Amberheart was lying at the foot of a tree. It was too hot to do anything, and the tree had shade. Her russet-colored pelt was still shining in the sun. She closed her eyes, but opened them again when she heard the sound of heavy pawsteps approaching, fast. "Dogs!!" She shrieked, and she quickly shot up the tree, glaring at the 2 dogs below. "You cant stay up there forever, cat!" Beanie barked, clawing at the tree's sturdy trunk. "You're gonna have to cone down some time!" Cocoa yapped excitedly. "Stop it!" Vienetta howled, shoving them out of the way and baring her teeth at them in a snarl. "This is just pointless, she did nothing to you!" "Loosen up 'Netta, no need to get protective over a cat! Cocoa and Beanie walked off, leaving Vienetta and Amberheart alone. "You can come down now, I wont hurt you!" The young puppy said, grinning at Amberheart. Amberheart slid down from the tree and landed next to Vienetta. "Uh... thanks for protecting me there." She smiled. "Im Amberheart! "Im Vienetta, but my 'friends' tend to call me Netta for short." They both lay down in the shade of the tree, both tired. Vienetta smiled to herself. I dont need friends like them, Amberhearts a better friend than they could ever be!
