A terralupus is an ancient and mystical being. They are born only in the most extreme conditions. They are very shy, doing almost anything to avoid human contact. Occasionally, a terralupus can be won over by kindness and will become a loyal companion. Every terralupus has an element and an alternate form, known as their atoniform.

Terralupi are similar to a fox in build, with a long, narrow face and a large bushy tail. A row of sharp spikes run along their back, both for defence and hunting. The female terralupi have long fur on the back of each leg, providing extra warmth for terralupi cubs, known as terras. All terralupi are surrounded by a soft, gentle glow of their element’s colour. Every terralupi has characteristically curled ear tips. All atoniforms look like the animal is represents.

The very first terralupi were born in the centre of the Earth. These terralupi were the elements of fire, but had no atoniform, as they had yet to come in contact with other animals. They survived for a short period of time, feeding on the lava. Soon they realised that there was little to no nutrition in their diet, and thus, the next elements were born; air, earth and water.
With the ability to control their element, the terralupi began to thrive, using their powers to survive in the outside world. Fire would protect them from extreme temperatures; Air would enable them to safely breathe in the new gases; Earth would create tunnels allowing them access to the surface world; and Water would use her element to drive away unwanted visitors as they settled in their new life.
Gradually, they began to adapt to this lifestyle, developing atoniforms to fit in with the natural colours of the forests. As the population expanded, a select few elements were cross-bred, creating newer and rarer elements.
Their adaptations enable them to survive in almost any conditions and environment, as long as there is an adequate food source.

There are four main elements; fire, air earth and water. The other, rarer elements are a result of cross breeding. These are light, darkness, emotion and weather. Each terralupus possesses some control over it’s element, and are unable to be harmed by it, as long as it is naturally occurring.

Terralupi diet consists mainly of igniscervos, a rare, nocturnal deer that trails fire and sparks. They also eat small mammals such as rabbit or hare.

- The first terralupi were called Ignis and Lascivo.
- They have a lifespan of around 35 years.
- They vary in size from a small dog to a jaguar.
- The oldest know terralupus was 43 years old!
- Atoniforms are always predators.
- They either live in a pack of 6-7, as a pair, or solitary.
