What is a Batto-Squirrel?
This species is a hybrid between cats, squirrels, and bats. You might not see much of bat/cat features in its anatomy, but you will see how later. Batto-Squirrels can have up to 3 tails, but this does not alter rank. They came from a volcanic island off of Madagascar. The island is very small and hardly seen on sattelites. They are now being introduced into Europe and North America.
Main Features
One of the most noticeable features of Batto-Squirrels are it's wings and eyes. The wings are used to aid in catching birds, and the number of feathers is counted to find an individual's age. The wings and tails usually have the same base color and are very bright colored, compared to the rest of its fur color. The eyes, however, are catlike, except the pupils are white with thick black outlines. The white part of the pupil is where it contracts. If the pupil is grey, that might mean that the individual has cataracts. If the pupil is colored, usually lighter than the iris, that means that the individual is blind or half-blind. The ears are bat-like and cat pick up tiny sounds. This species communicates both verbally and physically, for it has its own language. It will quickly understand human languages and speak them as well as add some words to their own language. Also, it has a fake collarbone like a cat, letting it squeeze into tight spots.
Diet
Generally, they have an omnivorous diet (eating both plants and animals). They eat fruits, vegetables, insects, and birds. They aren't picky of what kind, but they stay away from some bugs, especially those that are poisonous.
Breeding
During the spring and early summer, they begin breeding season. The color on their wings and tails become brighter, and they are more social. Having more than one Batto-Squirrel of the same gender, especially males, can cause some bickering. However, they keep it to the point of simple arguments. In the wild, males have "tournaments" for mating, where they gather to impress Females, and to show off.
