Brief Description: A red (chestnut) dun tovero Hanoverian x Warmblood Paint.
---
Yeah, I entered again. Here is my theory behind this outcome:
> The sire is a pangare liver chestnut sabino
> The dam is an apricot dun tobiano and splash (tovero) paint
> The foal is a light chestnut. This is because, although it is a light coloured foal like the mother, it only inherited one recessive 'pearl' allele. Two are for to foal to be the apricot colour of the dam, but it is unknown whether or not the father carried a recessive 'pearl' allele. If he didn't, then there would be no chance of an apricot foal. This foal's offspring, however, could have the 'pearl' dilution, with both copies of the recessive alleles, but the other parent would have to have at least one 'pearl' allele as well.
> This little one inherited both a 'sabino' allele and a 'tobiano' allele, leading to a tovero coat. I use the term tovero lightly, as although it mainly describes horses with both a 'tobiano' allele and an 'overo' allele, it has been used to describe horses with two different 'paint' alleles.
> This little one has also inherited one 'dun' allele from its mother. Most of the typical features of a dun horse (dorsal stripe, leg barring), however, has been 'covered up' by the expression of the 'paint' alleles.
Yes, I'm a genetics nerd. I love them! Anyway, I hope that this one is suitable.
***And one more thing: can I keep it if it doesn't place? As long as I come up with different parents?
