(I left to eat and jammed for a while. So take about 2 to 3 hours off the timer. )
Nunooks. (Nun-nuh-ks)
Society:
Nunooks are very gifted and social creatures.
They roam in large packs, though they often refer to their grouping as a "community" due to it's vast size.
In many ways it is run like a wolf pack in that there are alpha male and female, then beta male and female to step into rank when alpha are away or die.
However, everyone in the community has an important role.
Normally, this role is determined by the element that the Nunook has the power to tamper with. (Will be explained later).
For example, the Nunooks who are blessed with metal magic are the craftsmen. They create armor in times of war and every day items as well, such as storage tanks, jewelry, and other such homey items.
The individuals in the community depend on one another. They look after one another's pups (A mother can have up to 5 litters in her lifetime, with each litter containing up to 3 pups.), care for the elderly, and make sure all are comfortable and well adapted.
They can be very independent creatures, but they choose, rather, to reside within a large group. This makes life less strenuous and more enjoyable.
Magic:
Nunooks are extremely spiritual beings. They believe every element known to them has a god controlling it, and they worship and owe homage to said gods for their daily lives.
Each Nunook, with rare exception, is "gifted" by one of the gods the power to wield a specific element. The most common are:
Fire
Water
Lighting/Electricity
Air
Earth
Metal.
However, the gifts the gods give are as infinite as the imagination.
The element a Nunook is gifted with determines the creature's Patron God, which is simply the god the creature prays and follows more diligently than the rest.
Physical Characteristics:
Nunooks are huge. The largest canine species to roam their earth, they range from the size of Great Danes to a Bison or Buffalo. They are small as pups, but once they hit the "teen" years, they grow at a rapid pace. These years of rapid growing and development generally last around 4 years.
They are covered in fur all over with the exception of the front legs.
These legs are covered in thick scales that, for some unknown reason, help harness he power of the element the Nunook is gifted with.
The color of the scales generally corresponds in some way with the element the individual controls.
For example, a Nunook possessing psychic powers will more than likely have purple scales.
Upon being birthed, this gives a clue as to the element the pup will control when he grows into adolescence.
Another way to determine this, if a male, is by the tufts of fur located at the joints on the front and hind legs, as well as the mane-like hair that flows from the forehead to the lower back. This trait only develops in adolescence.
Nunooks are also very unique physically in that they possess two sets of eyes rather than one. These four eyes enhance not only the sight of the creature, but also allow the creature to enter the spiritual realm. The lower, smaller set of eyes is very similar in purpose to a "third eye," in that it helps the Nunooks open the doors of the spiritual realm and see into the beyond. The eye color is random and has no correspondence with the power gifted to them.
The fur of the Nunook can range from very complex patterns to simple ones. The colors of the fur are all natural. The color of the scales often appears in the fur as an accent of sorts. However, there has never been a recorded Nunook that has been one solid color, whether it be natural or the scale color.
