I am a monster,
That’s what they say,
The doctors, the shrinks,
That’s all that they think.
I have a mental illness …
I’m violent, so they will tell you.

Treated like a criminal,
But I’ve broken no laws.
They do it to protect themselves,
No care to what happens to me.

No history of violence,
But they lock me up anyway.
I’m a threat to myself,
And other’s, they’ll tell you.

Their fears lead the way,
Misconstruing the things I say.
They poke and prod ‘til,
They create the monster inside.

The monster reacts,
Scared into protecting myself.
Sedate the monster,
“How dare it protect itself! ”

Now they feel it has justified,
What they have done.
But weren’t they were the ones,
That created that monster inside?

Just a fun drawing I did and was inspired by the song " Monster" by Skillet. So, might as well draw something when you have the urge to. This is one of my characters named Winter, but I have no idea what specie she is. It was just a random design I came up with a while ago. Nothing really to explain now, but the poem is by A.M. Belsey, so credits to the creator.
