Dakus
History?
A Daku is an alien being. Leaving their home planet due to lack of resources. The first few crashed into earth hundreds of years ago, lost and unable to find a purpose. They studied their surroundings, and adapted. The only thing that changed was when they migrated up towards Asia and India; this was their first time seeing humans. Dakus knew very little of humans, and understood less of the ways they acted. But Daku were fortunate enough to understand one thing - human minds. And soon with adaption and study of the humans, Dakus became masters of human psychology; their best area was understanding nightmares. Dakus soon befriended humans, or what humans like to say, 'they tamed Dakus'; which is not true; Dakus have never been tamed down to the loyalty of a dog - but never too wild as a beast. They were just intelligent enough. Once Dakus became 'companions' they grew somewhat attached to their masters - and took it heavily upon themselves to get rid of nightmares. They believed that getting rid of nightmares would make humans idolize them - make Dakus a higher form of mortal 'god'. Just intelligent enough. Ever since, Dakus have been known as good omens, and are treated highly for what they do.
What Is A Daku?
A Daku is a large dog sized alien, they have taken on a somewhat more 'comfortable' form to not scare away others or look too out of place in this world. Dakus have compact, muscular bodies, built for fighting nightmares in another dimension; as well as hunting, running, and do other various activities. They have curved spines, wrinkles around their nape and shoulders; which gives them a more grotesque appearance. They have two wide eyes with no pupils. Long fangs that point opposite of each other - good for hooking into their prey and carrying things. Their bodies are barely covered in any fur at all - it is very thin, but feels as soft as silk; except for the long tufts along the neck, stomach, and hindquarters. Lastly they have two erect, alert ears (with wrinkles), and a long, thin furred tail.
The Orbs?
Dakus carry orbs of any color square in between their ears, always. Their orbs will spin, glow, and alert the Daku of nightmares. When a Daku is weak it can no longer hunt nightmares - its orb glow will die out - and that's when a Daku dies.
Behavior?
Dakus are usually very quiet creatures, even though they are able to speak human language - they refuse to communicate with humans. They have no verbal barking/chirping/or any other sounds. They usually speak through body language or scent. Dakus are very slinky in the way they move. Very stiff and cautious. They are constantly on high alert, and very eerie. However around other Dakus, as long as the situation is calm - Dakus can be very nurturing and laid back as well. Dakus can fight often, for almost any reason; as any animal or alien would. Dakus are not loyal, and their companionship is never set in stone. Dakus can leave their longest known human companions for someone new - unless the human keeps their Daku happy. With rewards and gifts - Dakus thrive on being treated like gods.
Diet
Dakus are omnivores and will eat just about anything. Their most eaten foods would be meat: rodents, or small dogs and cats. Dakus will almost never eat humans, unless they are that hungry.
Some Must Know Facts
*Dakus can weigh 70-120lbs and stand at 3-4 ft tall
*Dakus lifespan can go on forever - until their orb flame dies.
*Dakus must hunt nightmares every now and then to survive. The more nightmares a Daku hunts, the strong it is.
*Dakus live mostly in populated areas with humans.
*Dakus do not need a human companion to hunt nightmares - they can hunt anyone's.
*Dakus can come in any colors that DO NOT CLASH.
