Redwind trotted down the dark alley.She had never been to the place where her mother was raised.Twolegs in a nearby nest yowled loudly and threw something hard at her.She zigzagged to the left to avoid the hard object.Redwind veered into something solid and furry.She looked up into the face of a large gray fox.The fox snarled at her and said,"Watch it!A scrap like you shouldn't be wandering the streets." "S-sorry."Redwind stuttered."I-I didn't know.Is this your territory?" "Well,yes,but I guess you can,well,share with me."the large fox said."You won't be able to find any territory out here.It's already all taken.I guess if you help me find food you can eventually pay back the debt you owe." "Oh,thank you so much!I can't believe someone out here actually cares about my life."Redwind gushed.She padded down after the gray fox."By the way,what's your name?" "I am Smoke.What is yours?"Smoke asked. "My name is Redwind."She told him. Smoke stared in disbelief."Not-not the Redwind,the Bloodfang,the Fierce?" "Well,I guess,if that's what the foxes around here call me."Redwind shrugged.She had no idea what this fox was talking about.The Bloodfang?The Fierce?"You do not know about your history,do you?"Smoke asked her.Redwind shook her head."Well it all begins in the forest.Eight moons ago,the Twolegplace foxes were attacking the forest foxes.The Twolegplace foxes killed a midnight-black vixen in order to steal her cub.They raised the cub there,and released her back to the forest in order for her to learn fighting moves.Turns out,the black cub never needed training.She could defeat every fox that tried to attack her.The first fox who attacked her was a red fox named Russet.Rumor has it,the small cub tripped Russet by tangling her legs with his.When he fell,the cub bit Russet on the throat,severing his jugular vein."Smoke paused for breath.Then he continued."The cub got some blood on it's chest and it's tip of tail.Most of the blood on her chest washed away,leaving her with a red diamond-shape on her chest.The red on her tail never washed away.It was her first kill and she would never forget it." Redwind gulped.She whirled,pinning Smoke to the ground."How do you know of this?Only my mother and father know that!" "That's just it Redwind.I am your father."
