Species Name:

Albanian Rats

Habitat:

They originate from a small island called Albania which is mostly filled with grey stone cliffs and flats. The rats have been spread into the US, though, where they developed homes in deserts and mountainous regions.

Diet:

They will eat almost anything. They are omnivorous and can thrive off of both other smaller animals and plants and insects. Their favorite snack is mosquitos, which were found all over Albania, especially in the small ponds.

Size:

An Albanian rat is no larger than a medium sized dog. They reach about 1.5 feet when down on their paws, and nearly three when standing on their tails.

Coloration/Markings:

Most Albanian rats have three main colors - two natural, one unnatural. It is uncommon to find one completely natural colored (those always have blue eyes, while normal ones typically have yellow or green eyes) and even rarer to find one completely unnatural one. Every rat has two stripes on their tail, even the babies who are otherwise a solid color.

Behavior:

Albanian rats are very friendly creatures and love attention. They're normally bouncy and bubbly and especially love being scratched behind their ears.

Are they domesticated?:

Some of them have been domesticated simply because they are so friendly, but many are still living in the wild.
