I'll tell you about how we got Lexi....
"Okay guys, we're going somewhere and we'll be back soon!" I hardly even glanced at my mom, since my parents had been going places frequently lately.
A simple "Ok," sufficed, and they left. I checked my watch. It was about 9:15 AM on January 5th. I continued diddling around on Chicken Smoothie, as I was highly bored. Switching to Howrse, I did my RPGs, before switching back.
Time passed. It was now 11:15, and no sign of my parents. At noon, I had my brothers eat lunch. As we ate, the garage door opened. Our dad came charging in and exclaimed, "Everybody get your Crocs on!" We complied, curious about what was going on. Where was our Mom?
Dad led us out into the back yard, where we stood, seeing nothing. Then my mom came around the corner leading puppy! She wasn't a tiny pup, as you might have imagined. She was about 5&1/2 months old. She didn't jump, didnt bark, was very calm, and super sweet. We loved her. She had a couple accidents at first, but she was crate trained. We soon discovered that she loved playing tug of war, and hated baths.
Our mom explained where we got her from. "We got her from the Labs and Friends Rescue, who got her from a Pound in the middle of nowhere." A large, straight (and obviously man-made) scar on her hip bears the only proof that she had abusive owners.
We've had many adventures with our young pup. She got pneumonia shortly after we for her, but she recovered. It took her a while to figure out that sticking her head out the window is fun (even though she doesn't stick out her tongue yet), and a little while longer to discover she loves to splash through water and maybe sometimes swim. She brought us seven baby rats one day, and that was a surprise.
I'm sure we'll have many surprises with her yet!
