Species Name: Egyptian Mautiane
Habitat: The warm sandy desert in northern Africa is where they originate from, but they have been seen near rivers, lakes, mountains, and sometimes (though rare) in forests.
Diet: These creatures love to snack on wild desert fruits and leaves. If such items are scarce, they will eat small rodents or large insects.
Size: Adult males can range from 2-2.5 feet long while females range from 1.5-2 feet. They are no bigger than three inches when born.
Coloration/Markings: The colors and markings change from Mautiane to Mautiane. No two are the same. Their eyes range from yellows to greens and everything in between. These creatures can have a wide variety of markings from spots to stripes to rings to plain. Special Mautiane have unusual markings, such as the ones pictured above. The Mautianes you see here are elemental so they have their element symbol on each shoulder. The colors also range in the large quantity, but they are neutral, natural, or dull colored in nature. This means you won't see any bright colored Mautianes in the wild.
Behaviour: Wild Mautianes tend to be shy but sometimes long for attention. They love rolling in sand or mud. They're not very good at climbing, but they're great jumpers. When they get scared, they will jump at you and make themselves try to look bigger than they are. For the occasional domesticated Mautiane, they're very cuddly and friendly. They love their exercise and enjoy sun bathing. Overall, these creatures are very peaceful.
Are they domesticated?: They can be, but it doesn't happen often.
Other interesting facts: Mautianes mate for life. They love jumping and sunbathing on rocks or in the sand. They can swim but don't do it often as it sometimes makes them ill. Domesticated Mautianes tend to have shorter lives and are smaller in size compared to wild Mautianes.
