What is a feather-tail?
It is a wolf-like creature with long legs, a mane, and a feathered tail (hence the name.) They are delicate animals with hollow bones that are easy to break, and because of this they avoid fighting and are usually docile creatures (although a bit skittish, especially the smaller ones.)

Note to Artists!
Feather-tail designs are usually containing natural colors (except for their feathers which can be as bright and vibrant as the sun in full view.) Markings can be both natural and unnatural, and occasionally a bit of unnatural color can leak into their design as well.

More About Feather-tails
Behavior
They avoid fighting as much as possible because even a slight mistake could risk in serious injury. They're shy of new, larger animals, but can quickly grow accustomed to tip-toeing around dangers. They are not solitary animals, especially the smaller ones. They depend on each other, and as soon as they leave their parents, young ones will often form a small group of only one gender. Even as life proceeds, they stick together as a small pack, they with their mates. They do not have any particular 'ranks' and are all equal to one another (though males do tend to submit to females more often than not.)
Aging
The gestation of a feather-tail is two weeks. Pups open their eyes and can move around freely only hours after birth (this is necessary to keep them alive. If one can't move to escape any danger, it will be killed easily.) A mother can carry up to eight pups at a time, with an average of four. They reach maturity at 12 months old (except for their feathers, they will not grow any more after that age). Males will leave their mothers at this point, and females will stay in a nearby territory. The oldest known feather-tail was 11 years old, and the larger ones typically live longer.
Size
They have a wide range of sizes. The smallest one measured 13 cm in height (at the shoulder) and weighed just under a pound. The largest was 93 cm at the shoulder, and weighed 35 lbs.
Mates
After a feather-tail reaches maturity (12 months old) they will search for a mate. Females don't typically need to go anywhere and often stay close to home. Males will travel miles and miles in search of a mate, and attempt to impress her with his feathers. The selection of a mate is an exhausting process, because impressing a female is incredibly difficult. four out of five times, the male is turned down. Mates are life-long. Males will do anything for the females and are always by their side. Females are generally more dominant, with the males dying for attention and love. They help care for the pups and feed the family, while the mother helps watch them while he's gone. On the occasion when they don't have pups, they hunt together. It strengthens their bond and keeps their relationship healthy.
Hunting
Food options vary for smaller and larger feather-tails. Smaller ones typically eat bugs and berries, while larger ones are able to hunt down rabbits and mice, and on occasion, small deer. A favorite treat for the feather-tail is bees and honey. The feather-tails are highly resistant to bee stings and will without hesitation invade a nest. Feather-tails will not eat fish or birds.
Habitat
Feather-tails will live anywhere with a pond or lake. They might not eat fish, but the multitude of bugs in those areas is astounding and they love it.
