Chapter 4, The Rivals
I wrapped my coat around her looked at her reflection in the water. I looked so.. different, as if I was another person.I looked back at Gem, the animal elf. She gave me a curd nod and stood up, along with my pigeon, Ludwig, on her shoulder. "It's time" She said. I took one more glance at myself. I was wearing a outfit of one that would be rich, a silver chain ran across my tail, a gold necklace that I never part with draped around my neck, and a golden mask to cover my face If anyone could remember me. I grabbed me bow which I had set down. I slang my arrows across me shoulders and followed her to the town's park.
Once we arrived I found my number and pinned it to my coat. I was number 17. I looked to Gem, She was near the trees with my animals. Forest the earth dragon, Ivory the light dragon, Ebony the dark dragon, and my pet fox, Roxas. Along with Ludwig of course. I looked to prize that the competition offered. The winner could have the princess to marry, half the kingdom, 400 bags of gold and a feast in their honor. The prize was more then enough for me. I would have to decline wedding though as I'm female.
I glanced over at my competition, All males. Their were all different, some skinny as a twig, others as large as a castle. But one stood out the most to me, a male with dark black hair. It hanged over his eyes. He was wearing a almost Knight.. like outfit. Around his waist was a fine sword. Running along his tail was a chain, much like mine but his was gold while mine was silver. The king called the crowd to silence and gave a small speech. He then called us up, number by number and let us introduce ourselves. It was quite sometime before I was called. I walked up to the center of the stage and gave a bow. Making sure my voice was clear I called out.
"My name is Sict and I plan on winning this to keep me and my family healthy"
I spoke is a average voice but slightly a little more high pitched then the others. The crowd clapped their hands and and cheered. As I was walked behind the stage, he was there. I spotted the number 18 pinned to his chest. I looked at him. Our locked together and I felt something. It felt like a spark ignited inside me. Was it the urged to win? Or love?
Since my art sucks, I dressed up to pets to represent them.
