If it's flooded forget it.

Postby Snips. » Fri Feb 22, 2013 1:27 pm

Last month it flooded.

The town where I love is SURROUNDED by creeks and rivers.
So it started raining a lot, and the creeks were starting to fill up, the idiots who run the company that controls the Dam in our area (two of them, I might add) let the water out.
That action of theirs flooded our town.
No one was happy.
It was the first flood that my family had ever evacuated from, mainly because my Dad was stuck in a different town 20 mins away and everyone got texts saying that the water was going to be 1.5 meters.
But 1.5 meters from WHERE?
The bottom the the creek?
From the lowest part of town?
So yeah, me, my mum and my brother put our chooks inside our house (back landing and shut the doors) and brought our cats with us to the local school which is like 5/10 minutes out of town and is on high ground.
But we really didn't have to leave. The water only came up a few inches higher than 2010, which it would've been roughly knee high.

TL/DR:
People let water out of dam and flooded the town.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!

Yeah, we were worried about it, but mainly the stuff in our yard and under the house.
My house is up on concrete stilts, so no water got into it. c:
But the local Hotel-Motel got water in it. The owners weren't happy.

2 floods in 2 years.
And they say it's gonna rain from Sunday to Thursday next week, if that happens it'll flood again.
