Remember to use sketches - it will help you A LOT with the anatomy. It also helps you to decide where to put everything.
My style is a bit fantasy-like, and it's actually the style I use when I draw my Daeets. However, I guess it could help you a bit.

References are your friend, too. Don't be scared of using them! If you need some references, Deviantart's "Resources and Stock Images" category is a good place to start. It has literally everything.


Lastly: Practice, practice, practice. And put your time and energy into it. You can't expect to spend 6 minutes on a drawing and hope it will end up good. Of course, some people are capable of doing that, but PLEASE, do yourself a favour and don't rush it. They can do it fast because they are really experienced and knows exactly what they want to do.
