As the sun begins its descent over the horizon, those who live in the Great American Desert are in a race against time, for when the sun goes, so does its warmth. As hot as the dry basins are in daylight, they can be bitterly cold under the reign of the moon. Like the other inhabitants, the wild horses and burros must find ways to keep warm ~ there is always warmth, and safety, in being part of the herd.
