This picture is for those who are working at this moment, that while we are here, celebrating, that there are people a who are working away to save or help peoples lives, perhaps covered in blood, or being frustrated by people wasting their time when it could be used for other things.
My mother is a paramedic, and this is mainly for them, but it is also for anybody who sheds blood, sweat and tears for other people, no matter when they could be enjoying things with their own family, like policemen, firemen etc. My mother - currently a first responder - got called away for the new year, but I don't mind as she is helping other people. However, It is a known fact to me that no one wants to be on call or on the job when big events come around like Christmas, New years, Bonfire night etc. because of how frantic the night is. There could be a proper accident, like a baby that fell down the stairs, people with a heart attack, people loosing blood quickly, and other important stuff like that, but no-one could help them because they get called to people who have 'had the same amount of drink as always, and never had such a drunken reaction like this, honest!', or people who are being irresponsible and messing about. And that's just on the holidays. Any day, people prank call them, call them because there too lazy to do something and more!
My mum told me about people that have called her because they couldn't get out of bed, and she told me about when she could have been seriously injured, when immature male teenagers (nothing against males or teenagers. I'm a teenager myself, though female) chucked apples at the windows, and the glass was all over her, in her hair, in her clothes. She had time to wash before going straight back to work.
So, please be responsible. Think about your actions. Have fun, but don't overdo it.
Happy 2013!
