The song is about a young boy that becomes friends with a young girl. The girl is physically and mentally abused by her mother, and the young boy wanted to help, but couldn't. Eventually, the mother found out about the young girl's friend, and beat her until she passed. The boy went to her funeral and everyday, he would picture her as a ghost and they were best friends, literally forever.
He makes me think of a concrete like boy, one who would stand up for his friends.
