~ i gaze out over my perch at the vast sky. my eyes grow wide at the huge expanse, so blue yet eaten up by the burning forest below. the fire of the red and orange of fall fluttered, and spun. some leaves flew up to the sky, and my attention returned to the air. a flock of geese flew by, wings pumping. they moved, like paint on a canvas- soaring and gliding.
my brothers and sisters play further back into our den, content to ignore me. they cared not for the sky, or to fly. i was equaly content to ignore them. i was the only one with feathers in my family, but that was okay. mother never looked at me odd.
she walks up to me now, and lays her head on my shoulder "what is it?" she asks.
i blink, and watch the geese fly by.
"will that be me someday?" i ask my mother. my heart trembles and flutters, i long to jump from our cave and soar! how wonderous it must feel, to fly.
"yes," she says "someday." and it feels like i'm already flying. ~
(short story to a short drawing. i absolutely love the griffin pup! also, no, those are NOT flaming trees in the bottom left, it's just fall. i know the birds are a fail, but its late, and i have a ton of school work to do.)
