Fallen felt his eyepatch catch on a nearby stem in his hopeless attempt to flee his persuers. The other children teased him for having white fur and painting his fur with a strange flower dye that stained his furr for months on end. He never liked being the same as everybody else. It wasnt fair. He wanted to stand out and be noticed...
Apparently that resulted in becoming a reject to the other bats.
The piece of cloth his mother had used to hide his eye tore away and lay caught on the stiff stem of a nearby pumpkin. His one good eye flicked about frantically, searching for the ones whos chased him when he felt something collide with his side. The force knocked him into the patch of squash and he clung desprately to the one that held his eyepatch.
The laughs of several bats rang in his ears as he looked up.
"Look at the loser! He glows at night with that white fur! i wonder how he hasnt died of starvation. every insect must see him at night!" One of the winged mammals screeched. Another took the eyepatch in its mouth, whipping it around teasingly.
"H-HEY! give.. that back!" He felt tears welling in his eyes. The bat sneered, letting the cloth drop to the ground.
"Twerp..." He growled, flapping his wings and taking off into the sky.
Fallen watched them helplessly, his one dead eye filling with tears as well.
'This happens to me...
Because im different?'
