Day 44, October 2012, Log 1.
Yoyura, a volcanic island located in the middle of nowhere.
Across is another island, The Island of Perlengu, inhabited
by vicious insectlike creatures, but we can talk about them
later. The earth is battered with craters but sustains precious
life, since the minerals make the perfect soil for the plants
to grow and flourish. The main volcano, Kukara lu Laro, sits
at the end of the Island. Though the island is very far up north,
this smoking crater keeps the whole island warm during the
winters but lies dormant through the summer. This means that
the loathsome creatures that lurk on its earth only seem to be
active during the months of September through till February.
These hell bound creatures walk on two clawed hind legs and
stumble through the undergrowth with its sharp front claws
which protrude awkwardly from two stubby front legs. Its an
alarmingly likeness to that of a fearsome but long dead
creatures, the dinosaurs, although the stony scales have been
replaced with shaggy clumps of fur. Its head resembles a canine,
but with curled horns and large plate like ears. Its long
fur-tipped tail swishes through the undergrowth, retaining the
balance of the vicious being. We began with fifteen members on
this expedition, now only two of us remain, all the others picked
off by these hunters. They seem perfectly happy, wondering
around the cratered landscapes and leaping nimbly over large
magma rivers, their powerful hindquarters bunching and
throwing them into the air. The strange insect creatures mentioned
before...They seem to loath the equally hideous demonic canines.
Probably due to lack of prey, a simple vicious circle birthed into
the painful beauty of life and the struggle of evolution. I must end
this now, something has stirred behind us....
