Ares

stallion
Age:
6 years
Height:
16.2 hh
Personality:
Ares is the complete opposite of what he should be. The name Ares means god of war. However, this Ares is quiet, cool and collected, very friendly around mares, loners, and foals alike. He's easy to get along with and it's hard not to like his clumsy and adorable behavior. The young stallion dreams of one day starting his own herd with maybe one or two mares. Just a little one but one none the less. However, for now, he's quite content being of lowly status as long as he's among friends.

Ares paced the clearing, his hoofs making light rustles against the brown and crackling leaves that scattered the forest floor. A quick toss of his head blew the long, dark mane to the wind. his soft, icy blue eyes turned to the sunset, the last golden rays touching his coat, warming him to no end. Then, it was gone, just like that. Ares rolled his eyes, his shoulders slouching. Being romantic was hopeless, especially when the mare you wanted to share the sunset with hadn't even shown up. Sullenly, the dark stallion turned his back to the sky and padded towards the darkness of the forest. Ares dropped his head to the ground, snorting at a final lone flower. A glint of happiness warmed his dull eyes. The strong, lone flower stands alone on the barren wasteland. After his moment of contented solitude, Ares lifted his head and trotted back the way he'd come, towards the herd for it was getting dark. Ares reached the herd in time to watch all of the foals curl up together and the mares settle around them. A faint smile played on his lips as he watched a mischievous foal slipped away. Shaking his head, the stallion walked forward to the edge where he was assigned and stood comfortably, letting one leg go limp. Just as his eyes began to close, the mare whispered in his ear. "Ares." His eyes flew open and he looked about in the dark. "Ovation?" he called softly. The mare stepped out of the shadows earnestly. "Ares I'm so sorry." she trotted over and nuzzled him, fear rolling off of her in waves. It was no place for a loner to be. So close to a herd of angry mares and stallions. She shivered. "I got held up is all. I'm just not good with my directions." she pleaded silently with him her eyes round and hopeful. Sighing with a shake of his head Ares watched her. "It's not the first time." he reminded her gently. "I just... You don't get it do you?" he stood fully and nudged her to the forest where they could truly be alone. "Ovation, I really like you but you don't seem to get that." he murmured helplessly. The mare looked crestfallen. "Please Ares! I promise I'll never do it again! How can I make it up to you?" she whimpered the last part and nuzzled him softly on the shoulder, hoping. Ares sighed tiredly. "I just... Fine." he muttered, unsure if that was the right choice. But for now, all he could do was hope.
