Clouds raced along the bright blue sky. The strong rays of the sun beamed down onto the earth below. A few birds left their spots among the trees to soar towards the beautiful light in the sky, going on an impulse of beauty. Squirrels scurried from their homes inside of shallow trees to the grassy floor below them.

Many deer frolicked through the meadows of lush green, playing with their young foals. Several stags stood close to the frolicking mothers and foals, ready to protect their families from sudden danger.

A large wolf filled territory lay quite close to the meadows, but the deer would be safe for today. The wolf clan had already hunted well enough prey for a couple of days.

Inside of the very heart of the wolf territory, upon a large rock formation, lay a black furred she-wolf. She had forest green eyes and white features; White muzzle, white chest, belly fur and tail tip along with white dipped paws. The insides of her ears as gray as the rock beneath her. Beside the black furred she-wolf stood a muscular orange furred male wolf. He had white chest fur and insides of his ears with eyes as blue as the sky.

The orange furred wolf bent forward, giving his body a stretch. His jaws parted as a yawn escaped through his muzzle. He stood back up and pointed his nose into the air, taking in the scents around him. Almost immediately, he grinned.

"I do so love Spring." The male spoke, turning his eyes to the she-wolf. "Plenty of prey to feed the pack, and plenty of game to keep us all entertained." He chuckled lightly.

"I enjoy it for much more than just that, Kobi." The she-wolf began to speak. "Spring brings forward new life," she said gently, a smile appearing on her furry face. She turned her head and let her eyes glance at her round belly. "Not just for me, but for many other she-wolfs this season as well."

Kobi gave the she-wolf a smile and laid down onto his stomach, blinking at her. "Who else is expecting?" He asked curiously. "Aside from yourself, Missy, that is." He quickly added, a teasing tone edging into his voice.

Missy gave a small laugh. "Well, Tsuki already had her litter. Tawny is due any day now just as I am."

"Tawny and Russet?" Kobi asked as his head tilted to one side. "I wasn't expecting that one." He quickly shook his head.

Missy flicked her tail at one of Kobi's ears playfully as she grinned. "You weren't expecting me to be so eager and have pups with my mate either."

Kobi chuckled. "Okay, when the she-wolves that are giving birth are the ones I've known since they were pups, I can't fully accept it right away." He paused, blinking slowly as he gazed at Missy. "Especially in your case."

Kobi leaned forward and licked Missy's ear. "After all, you are like a little sister to me." He said with a nod. Then a sly grin crept up on his face. "Now you're all grown up and an alpha and becoming a mother and-and.. oh I could just cry!" He laughed, rolling onto his side.

Missy laughed along with Kobi before swatting at his ears. "Hey, Beta, you watch it!" She said teasingly.

No, before anyone asks me, Kobi and Missy are not mates. They might as well be family, though they aren't related. They are best friends. Nothing else.
